Rock the Block is a new initiative through the City of Cincinnati's City Manager's Office focused on bringing local government employees out into the community to support local businesses and connect with residents.
Role: Lead Planner and Engagement Facilitator
In the Fall of 2022, newly appointed City Manager Sheryl Long shared a vision for encouraging City employees to be more visible in the community outside of City Hall. With this vision in mind, we created Rock the Block, a bi-monthly event that includes lunch with the City Manager at a local minority-owned business, a Mobile Engagement Unit activity for residents, and a neighborhood tour or service activity.
Neighborhoods we've visited so far include:
- Walnut Hills
- Evanston
- East Price Hill
- Carthage
- Over-the-Rhine (within the Place-based Investigations of Violent Offender Territories (PIVOT) area)
