New Leaders Council is a national non-profit with more than 60 chapters across the country working to build power among the leaders closest to their communities. NLC is where new voices, new ideas, and new leaders connect to make progress a reality.
Current Role: Co-Director
Previous Role(s): Fellow, Deputy Director, Communications Chair
I joined NLC as a fellow in the 2020 inaugural SW Ohio cohort hoping to learn more about Cincinnati's progressive ecosystem. Having been in Cincinnati and local government since 2016, I'd found it difficult to find ways to break into the seemingly insular scene. It might sound like an exaggeration, but being accepted into the first-ever SW Ohio cohort was a true turning point for me in understanding my personal and professional place in the progressive movement.
Following the 2020 Institute year, I was convinced I needed to give back to this organization that had given so much to me. I was proud to join the Executive Board in 2021 as our chapter's communications chair, and even more excited to continue as part of the board as one of the first deputy directors for our chapter. Ahead of the 2022-23 program year, I was voted into the highest chapter leadership position, alongside my fellow 2020 graduate Hilly Kenkel. Hilly and I are thrilled to continue the legacy of NLC while also insuring our chapter serves SW Ohio and it's young future progressive leaders as effectively as possible.
