Since joining the city, our team has helped to increase transparency by releasing Request for Proposal to put city-controlled buildings and land out to bid for interested developers. This process is kicked off with a public event themed to match the sites and time of year that they are released to developers. Throughout the process, there are public engagement sessions in the neighborhoods of each site in order to solicit feedback from surrounding neighbors. At the end of the selection process, the sites are released to the developers who are deemed to have the strongest proposals. Not only are we activating underutilized property in the city, we are also creating a transparent process by including the public.
